Pastors and artists often misunderstand each other - the former wanting to use the arts for evangelism and to support preaching, without the art offending anyone, and the latter wanting ways to work out their calling and vocation with integrity and support inside and outside the church.
Pastor Jonathan Dove of Greenlane Christian Centre and Pastor/Curator Mark Pierson of Rhythms of Grace invite you to join them and some friends for a series of conversations and presentations to inspire pastoral leaders* with a passion for supporting artists and the arts in Christian churches in Aotearoa-New Zealand.
The focus of this symposium is to help church leaders better understand artists and creatives in their communities and to know how best to serve and nurture them in their faith and creativity and engagement with contemporary culture.
*Includes anyone in a church or Christian organisation who has some leadership responsibility.
OUR HOPE IS THAT EVERYONE WHO
PARTICIPATES WILL LEAVE:
passionately committed to the pastoral care and ministry of artists and creatives in their congregation regardless of where and how those artists fulfil their vocation and calling;
with a renewed, deeper and more empathetic understanding of the heart of artists, their calling and their world;
excited to use the new tools and understandings they have gathered to engage, personally and through their congregations, with multi-sensory arts in meaningful ways,
and with new resources and networks for stimulating their own creativity in personal spiritual formation, worship and preaching.
